A stop-sale order is immediately placed on a lot of seed if a violation of the seed law is detected during an inspection. The stop-sale order remains in place until the seed is brought into compliance. This may be accomplished by relabeling the seed, cleaning and then retesting the seed or declaring the seed for use other than planting. An officially-accepted tolerance level is applied to the label guarantee on the seed and compared with actual content found.
